This is as far as I go, and I will be straight with you about it

Montrose is about forty-six miles from Scranton. That is inside my radius, I do come, and Susquehanna County is one of the six counties I cover — but I am not going to pretend it is a ten-minute hop, because you would work that out the moment I arrived.

Here is the honest shape of it. At this distance, a repair is worth both our time when the phone is one you intend to keep, or when there is more than one phone at the stop. For a single cheap handset that was heading for the drawer anyway, it often is not — and I would rather tell you that on the phone than take the booking and let you find out.

What I will not do is dress the distance up. The fee is $50, it is the ceiling, and it does not climb.

$50 is the most travel will ever be, anywhere in the fifty-five miles. It is charged once per visit and never per phone, so the further out you are, the less each mile actually costs you — and a second phone at the same address travels free.

You get one flat total before I leave Scranton. Nothing is added at the door, and you do not pay until the phone is working in your hand.

Two ways to make this cheaper, both of them real

Gather the phones. Because the fee is per visit, the sensible way to use me at 46 miles is to line them up. A cracked screen, a battery that stopped lasting the day and a port full of lint at the same address is one trip and one $50 — which is where the arithmetic genuinely turns in your favor.

Say if you are not in a hurry. If I am already booked out your way on a given day, adding you to that run costs me far less than a dedicated trip, and I can pass that on. Tell me when you book that you can wait, and I will tell you when I am next heading north rather than quoting you for a trip made specially.

New Milford, Hop Bottom, Springville, Dimock, Brooklyn, Hallstead, Great Bend and Susquehanna Depot are all inside the radius.

What I fix

Cracked screens are the most common call, and the cheapest moment to fix one is before the crack reaches the touch layer. Batteries are the repair people put off longest and regret least. Charging ports are the one where the answer is often a $35 clean rather than a repair at all. And back glass costs very different amounts depending on the model.

iPhone 8 through 17 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy A and S series, Google Pixel. Price is by model, not a flat rate — check yours in the booking tool and you get the real number before I set off.

Check the port before you book me at all

The single most common call I get is a phone that has stopped charging, or that only charges if you hold the cable at a particular angle. Most people assume the port has failed. Most of the time it has not.

Pocket lint compacts into the bottom of the port, packed a little further every time the cable goes in, until the connector can no longer seat properly. The port is fine. It is just full.

Power the phone off and clear it gently with a wooden toothpick. If that fixes it you have saved yourself a $35 clean, a $50 trip and an afternoon — and I would still rather you did that than had me drive up here for it.

Putting that in writing on the page for my furthest town costs me jobs. That is rather the point: if I will talk you out of a $50 trip, you have a reason to believe me when I say a repair is genuinely needed.

How it works

1

Tell me what broke

Your phone, the problem, your town. Two taps and you get a price with the $50 travel already in it.

2

I drive out

Home or work. Free diagnosis when I arrive — and at this distance, if it is not worth fixing, you will have heard that before I set off, not after.

3

Fixed at your door

An iPhone screen or battery is usually fixed in 30 to 60 minutes after I get to you; other phones and repairs can take longer. I test every function with you before I hand it back.

Questions, answered

Do you really drive all the way to Montrose?

Yes. Montrose is about 46 miles from Scranton, which is inside my 55-mile radius and falls in the 35 to 55 mile band. Travel is $50, which is the ceiling everywhere I go.

How much is travel to Susquehanna County?

$50 at this distance, charged once per visit and never per phone. $50 is the maximum travel fee anywhere in the radius, so it can’t climb further no matter how far out you are.

Is it worth getting you out this far for one phone?

Sometimes, and sometimes not. For a screen on a phone you intend to keep, usually yes. For a cheap handset already on its way out, often no — and I’ll say so before I set off rather than after I arrive.

Can I get a better deal by waiting?

Worth asking. If I’m already booked out your way on a given day, adding you to that run is cheaper for me and I can pass that on. Tell me if you’re not in a hurry and I’ll tell you when I’m next heading north.

Which Susquehanna County towns do you cover?

Montrose, New Milford, Hop Bottom, Springville, Dimock, Brooklyn, Hallstead, Great Bend and Susquehanna Depot are all inside the 55-mile radius.

My phone stopped charging. Does that mean a new port?

Usually not. Nine times out of ten it’s compacted pocket lint, which is a $35 clean rather than a port replacement from $115. At this distance I’d much rather tell you that on the phone than drive 46 miles to find out.

Nearer in and on the same road: Factoryville, Tunkhannock and Forest City. The full list is on the service area page.
